Holidays at Rossahilly House in Co Fermanagh are combined
with superb, five star NITB accommodation.
There are numerous golf courses within easy driving distance
of Rossahilly House, a selection of which are detailed below:
Castle Hume Golf Club
Castle Hume Golf Centre is situated within the grounds
of Ely Estate on the edges of Castle Hume Lough. It is one
of the most scenic parklands areas in county Fermanagh.
A championship golf course situated 3.5 miles out of the
town of Enniskillen, it is one of county Fermanagh's main
tourist attractions and is one of the most testing golf
courses of Ireland.
Castle Hume is also manicured to the highest standard.
It sports over seven thousand trees and over thirty bunkers.
The course is built on well drained limestone land and is
a model of golfing elegance.
Whether you are a serious golfer or a beginner, you will
not fail to be impressed by the sense of well being that
Castle Hume will give you. It is a challenge to play and
a pleasure just to walk around.
Castle Hume Golf Course has been constructed to championship
standards. It is a total of 6,900 yards in length from the
championship tees and has a par of 72.
The standard scratch score from the championship tees
is 71.
The course is famed for its large curvaceous greens, its
rolling fairways, Its natural watercourse and its challenging
water hazards.
The loughs, island and woodland scenery of the lake district
of County Fermanagh is a most enchanting location. This
glittering jewel of woodland and illustrious waters provides
the setting and surroundings of Castle Hume Golf Course
Enniskillen Golf Club
Enniskillen Golf Club was founded in 1896 and is situated
approximately one mile from Enniskillen town centre, in
the heart of the beautiful Fermanagh Lakeland.
The eighteen hole, par 71 parkland course provides a challenge
to golfers of all abilities. Mature oak and beech trees,
some over 100 years old, line the narrow fairways.
The opening "Road Hole" has been described by
many as the most intimidating starting hole they have played.
Although the opening nine holes have been in existence for
only fifteen years, trees and shrubbery are well matured
and will cause some golfers the occasional problem. The
fifth green and ninth tee offer spectacular views over the
town of Enniskillen and the surrounding countryside. The
feature hole of the course is the short par 4 seventh, which
dog-legs right around a small lake. A tantalising glimpse
of the green will tempt the bigger hitters into "going
for it" with their tee shot. Anything other than an
arrow straight shot will result in a reload.
A new elevated medal tee for this hole is now open for
play. The back nine is mature parkland, bordering the Castlecoole
Estate, which is a National Trust Property. The tight fairways
of the eleventh, twelfth, sixteenth and seventeenth holes
will ensure a memorable score for some. The peacefulness
of the surroundings will, however, more than compensate
for any bad golf. A warm welcome is assured at the comfortable
nineteenth hole.
